Interesting quiz stolen from Kel

I saw this on Kel's blog and thought it would be interesting given my non-organized-religion "belief" set. Interesting indeed.

Your Results

The top score on the list below represents the faith that Belief-O-Matic, in its less than infinite wisdom, thinks most closely matches your beliefs. However, even a score of 100% does not mean that your views are all shared by this faith, or vice versa.

Belief-O-Matic then lists another 26 faiths in order of how much they have in common with your professed beliefs. The higher a faith appears on this list, the more closely it aligns with your thinking.

How did the Belief-O-Matic do? Discuss your results on our message boards.

Fall color

It's officially fall now. We've had a couple of freezes and the leaves are all turning. Pretty!

Punkins!

Here's the pumpkins Cole and I carved. I figured Jack would be good for the white one, and Cole picked out the pattern for the orange one. I think they turned out pretty cool. Jack's mouth was a pain, but not too horrible.

Stupid addictive computer games ...

My husband is a bad influence. He has me hooked on this stupid game. (World of Warcraft for those of you who aren't familiar.) This is my Draenei hunter, Nyura, and her kitty, who is — yes — transparent. Because he's a ghost saber. I think they make a fine pair. Here they are at Stormwind Harbor (on the dock to Auberdine, to be exact). I thought the colors were nice. It is a beautiful game.

MMMMMM duuuuump caaaaaake

So I wanted some dump cake and I made some (blackberry dump cake, to be precise). To keep myself from eating the ENTIRE pan and being violently ill and several pounds heavier, I made it at work, where it disappeared. I got two servings at work (for which I got looked at like a pig). There was one serving left at the end of the day, which I took home and ate for dinner. Hey don't look at me like that. I would've eaten it for DESSERT, but my dinner was ruined because my stupid timer decided the day I was using it for crock pot fajitas would be a good time to DIE. So no dinner. To console myself, I went straight for dessert. I'm an adult. I can do that. :P

I hate computers

I have my computer back now after a week. The hard drive died in the middle of backing up for the first time in far too long. So I took it to the Apple Store, where the nice people sold me a new hard drive (which they had to install). Today, I picked it up, along with the dead dead dead hard drive they removed from it, which I will likely be sending off to data recovery. Bleh.

So now I get to reinstall EVERYTHING. Yay. And of course this happened with our good buddy Hurricane Ike on its way to Houston to beat my family silly. Thankfully I still had my iPhone to check up on conditions there. Well, and the several people from that area who we've been sharing our office with. I've been looking stuff up and relaying info to my electricityless mother all day today.

ANYWAY, I'm back, and I'll be playing catchup all weekend. Yay.

Why I love my job

Ya gotta love a place where you can work with a stuffed tiger on your head and only get one or two strange looks.

Cute baby and new hair

Here's my terribly cute little pal Connor. He dropped by the office with his mommy and big sister (my mini-me, who was making him laugh in the second photo.) Oh yeah, and I chopped all my hair off and donated it to Locks of Love. You should too if you have enough! :)

Pretty rocks

More from Wikipedia: The Cullen Hall of Gems & Minerals and Eby Hall of Mineral Science, featuring a large exhibit of over 750 crystallized mineral specimens and rare gemstones. This has always been my favorite part of this museum. And I want this diamond and peridot set because it's my birthstone and my son's together. Not that I would have occasion to wear it. Or the means to insure it. But still.

On safari

From Wikipedia: The Evelyn and Herbert Frensley Hall of African Wildlife is a display of taxidermied animals, including one of only two forest giraffes exhibited in North America. Opening in 1969, the hall allows visitors to explore the seven biomes of the continent of Africa. Over 120 specimens, including 42 species of birds and 28 species of mammals are on display.

Hello, kitty.

Old bones

First is a skeleton of a prehistoric horse. Cool! It's at the Houston Museum of Natural Science. I love that place.

Below is a mammoth (duh), a giant ground sloth (right) and something else in between I didn't catch the ID on.

Approval from On High

Even the cats like the new rugs. Bo was lying down before I got the camera out. Of course.

WTF

From the Department of Foreign Company Names That Don't Translate ... I think this one's a bakery. But I just can't eat a Bimbo cake. Sorry.

iPhone camera not bad

Cute pic of Chris's cat, Bo, taken with my iPhone. Not bad image quality for a phone, eh?

New stuff is cool

So I got some new stuff for the casa this weekend. Finally. When Mom was here, we found some cool pillow cases for my throw pillows in the living room. The old ones just didn't go with the new slipcovers I got a few months ago. I found a REEEEEALLY soft blankie at Target in the same shades of blue as the pillows (it doesn't have the golds and browns like the pillows, but I had to have it.)

This weekend I found some throw rugs for the doorways and kitchen and some dish towels and pot holders that go with the new color scheme. I don't want area rugs because they just collect dirt and cat hair and they're a pain to clean. Also, they interfere with Chris's incessant moving of the coffee table as he uses it as a giant mousepad. Oh yeah, and they're expensive.

Anyway, I also got a beautiful orchid from Trey. I'll try not to kill it after it's bloomed out so I can give it back to him. So far so good. I think it looks nice on the piece of wall art I found to use as a table top for my little cafe table Mom gave me. The gaps in it are a teensy bit large for a table, but it's a patio table. It's not going to get much actual USE as a table.

Pigdog

This is my uncle's husky, Miko (which I have no idea how they spell). He likes to lie with his nose pressed against the glass door and looks like a pig. He's really a beautiful dog, though, if tremendously hairy.

Fourth of July

In this little town, they take Independence Day VERY seriously. The whole damned town lines the streets for the "Biggest Small Town Fourth of July Parade in Texas." With more than 100 entries from several counties, it is quite the affair. So of course, I took a couple hundred photos. Well, ok so a lot of them are from the city's fireworks display. At any rate, here's a few.

I told you they lined the streets. This goes on for the whole mile and a quarter.

The circles are my friend Laurie (walking) and her daughter, Courtney, who rode in the parade as Little Miss Roundup 2007-2008 3rd Runner-Up.
